Consultation and Discovery
- Identify intended audience, requirements, contextual inquiry, usage scenarios, business goals, and overall project scope and performance goals
- Perform competitive review
- Identify major project components and provide time and cost estimate
Interaction and Concept Design
- Develop task or navigational flow options through sketches, paper
prototypes and/or rough coded protypes
- Concept design and evaluation: formal or informal usability testing
- Concept refinement and selection
- Software or Website Prototyping
UI Design
- Layout Options following structure of selected interaction model and concept
- Design Options in Sketch form
- Refined Layouts in Digital Picture Form
- Develop Production Plan and Schedule based on selected option
- Technical Proof of Concept Tests as needed
Development
- Create text, photographs, illustrations or animations, digital video or audio
- Gather content and/or populate database
- Web or web-application coding
- Database Integration (as needed)
- Full integration of interactive content and media
Maintenance Plan
- Hosting and Registration as needed (can happen concurrently
with earlier steps)
- Load and deploy pre-release version
- Evaluate pre-release version
- Implement final rounds editorial, design adjustments
- Develop maintenance plan
